| Sport in FICEP |
|
FICEP is also a genuine sports federation that organises international sporting
events every year in numerous branches of sport. FICEP’s Sporting Commission is responsible for the overall organisation and follow-up of these events, for drawing up the rules of the sport and for selecting the events of which the day-to-day running is always handed over to one of our national federations. "FICEP GAMES" are held annually but there is a major European event every four years, in each sport in which at least three countries are involved. Sportsmen and women from all our federations compete in them. Also under the auspices of FICEP, team events are held between two competing sides and these may take place on the initiative of the various national federations. The national federations thus develop their own ways of working and training in the various sports. FICEP’s Sporting Commission also has the mission of constant policy-making in respect of the development of sporting practice and the way in which our national competitions can be developed to suit the genuine needs of our federations. The Commission is consequently an indispensable aid to finding ways in which we can develop our organisation and it also works in liaison with the other commissions. The Sporting Commission applies its experience to "development assistance programmes for sport and community life" which FICEP can implement in new countries through liaison with the European international bodies or Episcopal Conferences in these countries. |
